February Favorites

Let’s talk about the products that have earned “superstar status” in the Golz household this month.

The brand Soap and Glory can be purchased at the same time you grab your necessities from Target, Walgreens, and Ulta. It is my favorite drugstore brand when it comes to body care. The two MVPs from the entire line for me are the Clean on Me body wash and the Flake Away body scrub. The scents are fresh, but not overly fragranced. We love. You can’t go wrong with their body products!

I just turned to my right and counted my highlighters in my makeup drawer. I have 8 highlighters on rotation in my daily makeup drawer. Yikes - lol. I love each of them for different occasions, but my go-to lately has been the Benefit Cookie boxed highlighter. It is very champagne (think more white than gold or pink). If you are looking for subtle this is not your product. You will GLOW. Pop this on the tops of your cheekbones, inner corner of the eyes, brow bone, and along the bridge of your nose. Shine baby!

Last month I talked about the Jelly Comb wireless mouse and I did not know what I was missing until I hopped on the Jelly Comb keyboard train. Round buttons, beautiful color options, the perfect “click.” What more could you want in a keyboard, amirite?

I can’t say enough about stacking toys when it comes to my 9-month-old army crawler. Anything that stacks he scoots across the floor to knockdown. Then we clap. Then we ask ourselves if we should be clapping as he destroys things. Then we continue to clap and yell “YAYY!” Oh, parenting.

This next product is most definitely an investment piece. I have loved the look of stacking necklaces for years. I would be hesitant to stack as my necklaces would always tangle in the back and would be a pain to get off at the end of the day. This set from Nordstrom has been beyond lovely. I wear this set daily with any outfit and it elevates my look (like I am not a hot mess teacher mom.)

Our sweet Emmett has been struggling with dry skin in this Chicago winter weather. Who hasn’t been? His dermatologist suggested we slather him in the Aveeno Baby Eczema cream every single night after his bath. We have been doing this and his dry skin just loves it. I now apply all day long whenever I change his diaper. It also makes mama’s skin insanely soft too - zero complaints there.

I could write a whole love story about our playmat. So many of our big-ticket baby items only last a short season with our boy and end up going into storage. This baby mat has been on our floor since he was a couple of months old and we never looked back. It feels like a giant super thick yoga mat. He can scoot across it no problem, he can roll and occasionally bonk his head and there are no tears because the mat is the perfect cushion. We have two big doggos who also run, lay, and wrestle on the mat and it is as good as new. I also love the fact that it is neutral and double-sided so it isn’t a complete eyesore in the middle of our living room.

Emmie’s OOTD on the reg consists of a onesie, joggers, and a pullover sweatshirt. Many of my favorites come from H&M. This month I want to highlight these adorable baby sweatshirts. They have a couple of buttons in the back so they can comfortably fit over that noggin.

Hair oils. If you do not have hair oil in your routine they are a MUST. They add shine, moisture, and heat protection to your locks. I have first and second place when it comes to my hair oil awards that live in my brain. Olaplex rolls in with the silver and Ouai with the gold. Both are fantastic, but Ouai is a little more lightweight and less “oily” feeling. I do 2-3 pumps while my hair is damp - applying from my ears down. After I am totally styled I will rub 1-2 more pumps in my hand and run through my hair to add more shine and tame any frizz.

Finally, we have our plant baby favorite for the month. This month I added a String of Hearts to Emmie’s roo. It is hanging in the window and has grown a TON since I bought it earlier this month. I find my plants don’t love me as much in the winter months because it isn’t their growing season, but the String of Hearts is an exception to this rule as it has been showing me SO much love as it is popping out new leaves each day. I love you, little green buddy!
